Product description
Chantilly lace (it originated in Chantilly, France) was once made exclusively by hand as bobbin lace. In white and ivory it is a go-to material for wedding and bridal wear. And in black it was once all the rage among the Spanish aristocracy for dresses, mantillas, and fans. Our Chantilly lace is manufactured on a traditional machine using a special process, so its maximum piece length is under five meters.
This lace is very fine, with a lovely drape and a soft hand, making it a wonderful choice not just for dresses, but also for lingerie. Combine it with a lightweight satin (charmeuse), silk jersey, crêpe de Chine, or one of our rayon satins.
Chantilly lace is at home in wedding gowns, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and fancy blouses. Make it the full outer shell of your garment, with an under layer of a fluid fabric such as silk satin or something stiffer like dupioni or taffeta. Or feature it on the bodice, sleeves, in applique, or as a detail on a veil or hat.
Care
Hand wash this lace only at 30°C. Handle very gently, do not squeeze or wring dry. Do not machine dry. Hang or lay flat to dry. Iron on the lowest setting (synthetics).
