Product description

This beautiful lace is set on a fine tulle base and has a decorative, scalloped edge along two sides. The design does not fill the entire surface of the fabric, so in large formats (full skirts, entire dresses) the result is very elegant. Corded lace makes a pretty edging for a skirt, sleeves, and neckline. The individual design motifs lend themselves to use in applique.

Corded lace is sometimes inaccurately called Alençon. While the two are similar in appearance, there is an elemental difference in how they are made. Corded lace is embroidered on tulle, whereas the more sophisticated Alençon lace is woven as a whole using the Jacquard technique.

Corded lace is an elegant match for bridal gowns, evening gowns, and cocktail dresses. It has a gentle drape and combines well with fabrics that have a similar or crisper drape, such as dupioni, heavy satin or duchesse, or taffeta.

Care

Hand wash this lace only at 30°C. Handle very gently, do not squeeze or wring dry. Do not machine dry. Hang or lay flat to dry. Iron on the lowest setting (synthetics).
