Brocade inspired by a historical Renaissance pattern. A good choice for authentic looking period clothing and decorations as well as modern interiors and contemporary fashions. Stunning brocade made of top-quality synthetic fibers with a woven pattern.
This ornate Renaissance brocade was inspired by a 16th century Spanish textile, most likely from the renowned workshops of the Valencian weavers who crafted luxury fabrics for the wealthy aristocracy.
The brocade is patterned with foliage and flowers, as was the fashion in the 16th and into the 17th century. These elegant motifs were favored in garments for ladies of the nobility. A gown of similar fabric was worn in portrait of the French princess and Spanish queen Elisabeth of Valois.
Richly ornamented patterns bore witness to the artistry of the weavers who made them. This fabric is a beautiful example of the luxury and elegance that characterized the fashion of the European aristocracy at the time.
The original textile is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
This pattern reconstruction is the intellectual property of SARTOR BOHEMIA.
This historical brocade is a sturdy Jacquard weave made with top-quality synthetic fibers. It is striking for its vivid color, effective use of alternating weaving techniques and structural relief.
This brocade is slightly sturdier than silk blend brocade. It holds its shape beautifully, and the addition of rayon makes it comfortable to wear.
Reproductions of period brocades such as this are perfect for sewing historical costumes and also bring something special to modern interiors or contemporary fashions.
We recommend using a sturdy lining fabric under this brocade, such as serge, satin, or habotai.
This fabric can be hand washed at 30°C (86°F), but it will shrink and crinkle slightly. To avoid this, we recommend dry cleaning at a reliable dry cleaner. Unlike silk brocade, this fabric will not soften when laundered. Iron on the back side on a synthetics setting; if the fabric has been pre-shrunk, you may use steam.
Rarely! We produce reproductions of historical fabrics as limited editions. We want to guarantee a certain authenticity to all owners of historical costumes and decorations. We recommend that you buy these fabrics while they are in stock, as this is the only way to secure them for your project aside from custom ordering.
Limited editions are fabrics of exceptional quality or patterns that have been designed and produced exclusively under the Sartor brand. As a rule, they do not repeat and are therefore only available while supplies last. Don't miss your chance to own a true original.
The minimum fabric order is a length of 20 cm.
Of course! Historical patterns are characterized by high-quality aesthetic workmanship with an emphasis on elegance and harmony, which make them timeless works of art. They are suitable for modern interiors, where they bring an element of originality (try a picture, a pillow). In fashion, they excel in simple, even minimalist, garments, handbags and other accessories.
