This linen jersey can be used like any cotton jersey, but some traits set it apart. It has a slightly wavy structure, a product of its irregular thread thickness, that is noticeable at first glance. It is rougher to the touch than cotton (not ideal for sensitive skin types), but it’s also lighter and airier. Linen jersey is great for summer because it is cooler, breathes better, and dries more quickly. And it holds up well to frequent wearing and washing.
Linen jersey looks great in t-shirts, tank tops, tunics, form-fitting or loose dresses, sporty t-shirt dresses, and in all kinds of wrap-around and layered garments (it’s more sheer than cotton jersey). When sewing with a lighter jersey, be sure to place and cut your pattern carefully to help your garment maintain its shape.
This fabric will shrink and should be washed before cutting. To avoid fading, do not dry dyed linens in direct sunlight.
Wash dyed linen at 40°C, white and natural linens at 60°C. Iron on high. Can be steam pressed. Can be machine dried; we recommend a gentle cycle.
