Product description
This linen jersey can be used like any cotton jersey, but a few things set it apart. Linen breathes better than cotton and is great for summer because it feels cooler and dries more quickly. If you break a sweat, you’ll be comfortably dry sooner, and even if you don’t have a chance to throw your clothes in the wash right away, it doesn’t matter. Linen stays fresh longer than cotton or synthetic sports materials. Just hang it up overnight and let it air out.
This linen jersey has 5% added elastane (spandex) for better stretch and shape memory. It has a smooth, firm hand. Linen’s irregular thread thickness gives this knit an interesting “patchy clouds” structure.
Application
Linen stretch jersey looks great in
- t-shirts
- tank tops
- leggings
- simple form-fitting and loose dresses
- sporty t-shirt dresses
and in all kinds of wrap-arounds and layered pieces too (just note, it’s more sheer than cotton jersey). Linen jersey also makes comfy leisurewear and nightshirts.
Tips
When sewing with jersey, be sure to place and cut your pattern carefully to help your garment maintain its shape. Ever bought a linen tee that started to twist after a few washes? A good homemade t-shirt that’s been carefully cut will never let you down like that.
This fabric will shrink and should be washed before cutting. To keep dyed linens from fading, do not dry in direct sunlight.
Care
Wash linen stretch jersey at 30–40°C. Hang to dry. To keep dyed linens from fading, do not dry in direct sunlight. Iron on lowest setting – linen can withstand high temperatures, but using a lower setting will prolong the life of the elastane in this fabric.
