This softly draping lyocell fabric in white with a floral pattern is more matte than classic high-gloss silk charmeuse. It has the look of cotton sateen but one touch is enough to tell you this is a whole different material – it is extraordinarily smooth and soft with a great drape that makes it incredibly nice to wear.
Lyocell belongs to the rayon family and, like rayon, is made of natural, plant-based materials. In comparison to classic rayon, however, it is much more durable and many times more environmentally friendly.
Its manufacture produces minimal waste. The water and other materials used in its production are virtually entirely recuperated and reused and, unlike cotton, it requires no pesticides.

Both of these names are floating around out there. So, what is the difference between lyocell and Tencel?
Lyocell is the generic name of the material. Tencel™ is the trademark owned by the Austrian manufacturer Lenzing. So it is the exact same material, but the manufacturer (and the price) are different. Tencel™ also guarantees the origin of the material (wood from sustainable forests).
