This green and silver brocade is a beautiful, opulent fabric created using the jacquard technique, which makes the production of highly detailed, woven patterns possible. Its intense colors, effective combination of matte and luster, and tactile surface, put it in a class of its own. Historically, brocade has always numbered among prestige fabrics, and that remains true to this day.
Our brocade is woven of very fine threads (the warp is polyester, the weft rayon) but is sturdy, with a moderately crisp hand, making it a good choice for tailored patterns and garments that have to hold their shape. Use it for formal and wedding gowns, skirts, jackets, and evening bags and clutches. In everyday wear it excels in pencil skirts, trousers, or jackets. Menswear applications include ties and bow ties, vests, blazers, and dinner jackets. It is a classic for home decor (pillowcases, tablecloths, curtains) and a go-to for corsets and historical and theatrical costumes.
Brocade is easy to sew, just keep in mind its tendency to fray (widen your seam allowance) and propensity for loose threads. Choose a sturdier lining such as rayon satin or silk satin or silk serge. If you want your final garment to be washable, launder or steam shrink the fabric before cutting.
Care
We recommend dry cleaning this fabric at a reliable dry cleaner. Hand washing (30°C) will cause slight shrinkage and crimping. Unlike its silk cousin, this brocade will not soften when laundered. Press on the back using the synthetics setting; if the fabric has been pre-shrunk, you may steam it.

The type of defect present in seconds fabric is always listed in the product parameters. Usually they are minor flaws and defects that occur only in part of the role (typically at the beginning or end). That's why our discounted seconds usually include only smaller pieces, not entire rolls.
The fabrics in our core inventory, seasonal collections and limited editions are from repeated production cycles that we have quality-tested – given proper care their colors should not bleed. Fabrics that are on offer while supplies last are one-off products that have not been individually tested. We recommend doing a sample test.
If we recommend pre-shrinking for a particular fabric, we generally say so in the product description. As a rule, pre-shrinking is needed for linen, cotton, and rayon, but for finer fabrics (light rayon, Tencel and modal) proceed with care – don't use hot water or a hot iron, simply launder the fabric the way you will be laundering the completed garment.
