Product description
The original model for this historical brocade reproduction was found in Siegburg, Germany. However, it almost undoubtedly came from Asia Minor, where the Byzantine and Ottoman empires strove for power in the 13th century. The design bears Italian and Regensburg influences, which were carried to Asia with the Crusades. Specifically, there is a strong heraldic stylization, although the two-headed eagle has its origins in Iraq and did not make an appearance in Europe until the 14th century in Sicily. The double eagle symbolized power (in fact, some sources mark this fabric a coronation robe). Paired eagles are placed in heart-shaped pearl medallions. Of interest are the twisted tendrils ending in dragon heads that fill the space between medallions.
The original textile is held by the State Museums in Berlin.
This historical brocade reproduction is a Jacquard weave with a pure silk warp and a weft of rayon and lurex. It catches the eye with its striking color and dramatic, raised surface, an effect achieved by alternating weaves. Yes. We ship worldwide. The price of shipping is automatically calculated at checkout before payment after you select the country of delivery and the preferred carrier. When will my order be delivered?
The estimated delivery date with your selected carrier can be seen before payment is made at checkout. It is calculated as the time for processing and packing your order plus the time it takes the selected carrier to deliver to a specific destination – this can be from 2 days for delivery within the Czech Republic to a week for delivery outside the EU. Expect longer delivery times during big sales and holidays.
