Product description

Product description

Double gauze muslin, 100% organic cotton in dark blue with a dainty floral print. Certified safe for children under 3. A favorite for casual dresses, pants, children’s clothing.

Double gauze

Double gauze is more than just muslin (see classic muslin): it’s a soft, pillowy fabric with a faintly crumpled look. This one is 100% cotton and comes in a cheerful delicate floral print.

Why double gauze? This fabric is actually made of two layers that are interwoven, giving it strength, opacity, and an ability to hold its shape.

Spanish fashion fabric

Discover the magic of Spanish design with fabric designed, woven, and printed entirely in the heart of Catalonia, the historical textile Mecca that has been setting the tone for European textile manufacturing since the 18th century.

Spanish patterns are elegant and playful with an eye for detail. This fabric combines premium quality and the contemporary flair of Spanish design – a perfect balance of provocation and elegance.

Traditional rotary screen printing

This fabric was printed using a technique known as rotary screen printing, a process where a design is engraved in a metal cylinder and ink is forced through tiny perforations directly onto the fabric. This method, widespread in Europe since the 1960s, allows for precise, even color application. Although it has been giving way to digital technology in recent years, rotary screen printing remains the standard for artisanal precision and is a traditional textile printing method in Europe.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

This fabric is certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class I – the highest rating, which guarantees safety for children under three. Certification means that the fabric does not contain harmful substances and poses no health risks, so you can use it with confidence for clothing and items that will come into direct contact with a child’s sensitive skin.

Organic cotton

This fabric is made of premium organic cotton that has been certified for environmentally responsible production – from ecological farming to final processing. Organic cotton is not just good for the planet, it also delivers finer quality compared to ordinary cotton.

What to use it for

Double gauze is probably best known for its comfort factor. Soft, breathable, and pleasant to the touch, it is perfect for pajamas and loungewear. It also makes an excellent choice for casual clothing, such as loose pants, tunics, simple tops and dresses you can just throw on and go.

This fabric is popular for children’s clothing because in addition to being comfortable it holds up well and is easy to care for – priceless qualities for anything worn by children.

Aside from clothing, double gauze can be used for scarves, wraps, and throws. A trimmed piece of double gauze is something you can throw across your shoulders on a chilly evening, spread out to sit on outdoors, even use as a makeshift towel.

For the home, it can give you pillowcases, coverlets, and original curtains too.

Care

Machine wash warm (40°C). Iron on cotton setting. Use a low spin cycle. Take care when ironing not to press too hard; it’s better to steam it instead, preserving this fabric’s crinkled structure and softness.

FAQ

What is a limited edition?

Limited editions are fabrics of exceptional quality or patterns that have been designed and produced exclusively under the Sartor brand. As a rule, they do not repeat and are therefore only available while supplies last. Don't miss your chance to own a true original.

Should I pre-shrink fabric before sewing?

If we recommend pre-shrinking for a particular fabric, we generally say so in the product description. As a rule, pre-shrinking is needed for linen, cotton, and rayon, but for finer fabrics (light rayon, Tencel and modal) proceed with care – don't use hot water or a hot iron, simply launder the fabric the way you will be laundering the completed garment.

Can I put goods on hold?

Yes. If you plan to pick up the goods in person at our store in Prague, you can put them on hold through the e-shop – there's a link just below the price on the product page. We will hold items for you for one week.

Do you accept orders by phone or email?

No. We only accept retail orders through the e-shop. This eliminates situations where someone else orders the last of an item while your order is still sitting in our inbox or lies jotted on a bit of paper by the phone. By purchasing online, you are putting an immediate hold on the product. Of course, you can always call or write to us if you need help making your selection.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. We ship worldwide. The price of shipping is automatically calculated at checkout before payment after you select the country of delivery and the preferred carrier. If you do not find your country in the dropdown list, please contact us. You will find a rough overview of shipping costs in our shipping and payment terms.
