Product description
Our silk crêpe marocain is one of our most beautiful fabrics. It is tightly woven of superior quality silk, lending it a perfectly smooth, dimly lustrous surface. It has some weight and drapes beautifully, in rich, elegant, folds. Use it for truly breathtaking evening dresses and bridal gowns.
Crêpe marocain has the slightly pebbly texture and soft sheen typical of crêpe. It is a joy to wear, airy, soft, and cool. Aside from ball gowns and wedding dresses, it works well as an “ordinary” dressmaking material – if you favor flowing skirts, blouses, or maybe wrap-around dresses made of crêpe de Chine or other crêpe fabrics, treat yourself to an extraordinary piece in crêpe marocain.
Crêpe marocain is opaque. If you are combining it with a sheer fabric, it pairs best with a matte georgette. If you’re looking for a supple fabric with a high sheen, browse our satins. If you want a stiffer, but equally luxurious, fabric for a full skirt or dress, try our duchesse.
Care
We recommend dry cleaning this fabric at a reliable dry cleaner. In our tests of how to wash silk this fabric stood up to gentle hand washing but did shrink slightly, enhancing its pebbly structure. If you risk hand washing, use lukewarm water and a delicate detergent for woolens; do not wring or squeeze dry; block dry on a flat surface. Dry iron on the lowest setting. Avoid water droplets.
